Whirlwind Wheelchair on PBS newshour with Jim Lehrer reported by Spencer Michels

PBS newshour covers Whirlwind Wheelchair International’s efforts to send low-cost durable wheelchairs to Haiti for amputees after the January 2010 earthquake. Whirlwind has worked in 40 countries since 1979 to deliver the best wheelchairs for rugged developing world riders. Ralf Hotchkiss, is speaking from Whirlwind headquarters at San Francisco State University.

    Excellent!  Showed this to a friend; her comments:  “this philosophy makes sense to me…build really good chair in the area they will be used, pay local workers a fair wage and have availability for local repairs…seems like it’s a win all around really…really nice…
     
    it’s great to see how one person can make a difference on so many levels…imagine??

    $220 for a good chair that will last…
