What is the policies for most airlines on handling customers using wheelchairs?

I may be switching from a cane to a walker or a wheelchair someday soon, and I’d really like to know is there a SOP for Airlines on non-ambulatoey devices for dis-abled or senior citizens ?

  1. canknuckle says:

Each airline has their own policies, which they list on their homepage. For example, United’s looks like this:

    http://www.united.com/page/article/0,1360,1040,00.html

    and Continental’s like this:

Depending upon the airline you wish to fly, they will be different. Also different airports have different procedures so you should check the airport website for more info on how they handle non-ambulatory services.

    Happy trails!
