Do wheelchairs need to be strapped in place while on the public bus?

Don’t wheel chair users have to use the safety straps to keep themselves from rolling around? When the bus is crouded it seems to dangerous to have them rolling around or possibly tipping over… I see all the safety devices available, but no one uses them? If anyone can link me to some official website that says yes/no on this topic, that would be lovely.

Thanks in advance.

No, I think the wheelchairs have locks. But I have not seen a wheelchair user actually use the safety straps, so I’m not really sure..

well around my neighborhood theres often people in wheel chair who borad the bus and the driver has to strap them in before taking off and they also unstrap them when they are gettin off. just get on a bus and check, its in the front of the bus where the disable signs are
