Do wheelchairs cause gray stains to appear in carpet?

The carpet is beige and has been cleaned but the gray stains reappear. Was told the wheelchair causes these spots. Wheelchair is never outside and spots are not in all places wheelchair has been.

if the spots are not in the places the wheelchair has been then I would think it was not the chair. Also if the chair is never outside that doesn’t seem to be the reason for the stains either…I would look for some other possibility.

My mom and dad have the same problem with their walkers, what i have done for them is to periodically wipe the wheels thoroughly with alcohol and make sure it is completely dry before rolling it on the carpet again.
    Good Luck

I don’t know about any gray stains, but i have been using a wheelchair for 4 weeks and it does kick up all the lint and I guess it would be called the fuzz in the carpet.

fully possible, rubber isnt industructable, it’ll rub off on things
also even without being outside, inside isnt the cleanest
do a test, run it back and forth a few times in a area and see if they develop

Could it be leaking oil or some kind of lubricant? I have an office chair that occasionally does that.
